The Women's Foundation of Nepal

The Women's Foundation of Nepal was founded in 1988 by three courageous, dynamic, and dedicated women: Renu Sharma, Tara Upreti, and Kamala Upreti. You've got to read the wonderful story about how the Foundation was started.

The Women's Foundation is a non-profit NGO with a deep sense of social responsibility and a strong desire to address the problems of women in Nepal. From the very beginning, the founders never gave up even though they were often the object of ridicule which would have stopped many!  This dedication and the founding principles still guide them today.

The basic purpose of WF is to help women and children equally, regardless of caste, religion, or race.  On a broad scale, we strive to alleviate problems by increasing public awareness of opportunities for economic and social development, and by fostering social responsibility and self-reliance in developing villages. Through our practical programs, we help to empower women to improve their   lives and community.
