Nepali Children: Index
Poor Children Clammor to get into School
Many children would like to attend school, howerver, they come from families so poor that children must forage for food and fuel from an early age or face hunger and cold.  The child above said, "I want to go to school.  It will not happen in my life."

These two children take time out from their daily work to peer into the school wherein lies their dream - the possibility of an education and a way out of the grinding poverty which has gripped their family generation after generation.

These children are not alone in Nepal where nearly 50% of all children do not attend school on anything like a regular basis.

The answer lies in making it possible for families to earn enough money so that the do not require the work of children to get along, building classrooms so that there is enough room in schools for all the children who want to get into school, and garnering the help of the international community, governments, NGO's and individuals, who will help with the costs invloved.
